The Hindu Co-operative Bank Ltd. Pathankot has got the distinction of being the pioneer in the state because it is the largest Licensed Urban Bank of the state of Punjab. the bank was registered on 30.09.1926 and started functioning as a society, It came under the Preview of Banking Regulation Act, 1949 in September, 1968 and Reserve Bank of India granted licence as an urban Bank on 24‑08‑1982. the bank is governed in accordance with the directions of Reserve Bank of India and the provision of Punjab Cooperative Societies Act, 1961 and the rules made thereunder. The bank has shown the tremendous growth in all the spheres of the banking business.
The bank was working as one man branch from its inception and opened its branch on 27‑10‑1988 in Model Town, Pathankot. The other three branches were opened in 1992 and 1993. the bank is having five branches. The bank achieved its object with regard to economic up‑liftment of its members, by providing them modern banking facilities on easy term & conditions. The main beneficiaries are low income and middle income group people.
In order to meet the present need of information and technology, the bank has computerized all of its branches.
The bank created an other land-market in the area by installing first ATM in Gurdaspur District to provide 24 Hours Banking service to its members and customers.
